    • Synopsis
    • El Solera de Jerez is a virtuoso gypsy guitarist from Andalucía, Spain, who, despite his well-known and precocious musical career, has taken the bad life. His excesses with drugs and play lead him to relate to the gypsy mafia who send a thug to kill him after discovering he has cheated in a poker game, but el Solera de Jerez who also has skills with the dagger, manages to kill his executioner. In revenge, the gypsy mafia brutally murders his brother Antonio on the day of his marriage to the young Jovanka. Judged by gypsy laws, he is sentenced to travel for the next thirty-nine days to Argentina, to fulfill Antonio's last wish, find Uncle Domba who emigrated to that country twenty years ago, confront with him old unresolved family wounds and convince him to perform the Pomana, an ancient ritual to give rest to the dead. When leaving the community, the Jovanka, who has remained a virgin and a widow at the same time, throws at him the Curse of the Duende, an ancient gypsy spell that deprives him of his musical abilities, preventing him from pleasing the tormented spirit of Antonio, that appears throughout the road to demand his brother to accompany him with the guitar, interpreting a Siguiriya, a dense and dark Palo Flamenco through which he seeks to atone for the deep pain that torments him
