    • Yuryk is based on real stories.

In February 2022, an announcement was made that all the children found in 11-year-old Yuryk's home city would be taken to Russia. Ira, his mother, has already lost her daughter, father and husband under shelling and knows she will never see her son again if the Russians take him away. She herself cannot leave the city as she is caring for her bedridden mother.

Forced to make the most difficult decision a mother can make, Ira persuades Yuryk to go with volunteers in order to reach the border with Poland, where his relatives from Estonia will meet him. Despite his fear, Yuryk agrees because his mother tells him, "If he lives, she will live too". His journey is full of unknowns. What awaits him on the way to a peaceful Europe and will he be able to fulfil the promise he made to his mother? This extraordinary film depicts the tragedy of both children and adults who found themselves transported from a life of modern comfort and well-being to a living hell.

This is a story that should never have happened in the 21st century.
