- Synopsis
- In 2023, Russia passed a law banning gender transitions and declared LGBTQ+ individuals extremists. This law unleashed a wave of repression, forcing thousands to flee their homes, jobs, and families in search of safety. What’s Up, Extremists! follows El’ise, an architect dreaming of a world without violence, and Fregla, the founder of a shelter for transgender people. As they confront fear, rejection, and a collapsing reality, they embark on a perilous journey to escape persecution. The film intimately documents their attempts to flee the country, weaving past, present, and future into a story of defiance, resilience, and the enduring fight for freedom.
