    • Synopsis
    • ‘Voices of Liberation’ is an 11-part documentary series about the liberation of Western Europe after World War II, told through personal letters and stories of local residents. Guided by local celebrity hosts who each have their own personal link with the second World War and where actual facts are told through the use of personal letters, diaries and memoirs. They are able to dig deeper in these stories which offers an alternative and more humane view on past events.

The television series does not only focus on the story of ‘the Allied liberator’, but also gives ‘the civilian’, ‘the resistance fighter’, ‘the collaborator’ and even ‘the enemy’ room to shed light on their perspectives. For that reason, ‘Voices of Liberation’ wants to find a balance by giving a voice to all people, from different angles and with different backgrounds. This will give us insights into the minds of the people who lived, fought and in the best case, survived the Second World War.
