- Synopsis
- Untold Arctic Wars is a next-generation historical documentary series that introduces World War II events in the Arctic in an unforeseen manner. The six episodes uncover the less reported big picture as well as new details about the events in the north.
  
  The focus is on the battle between great powers concerning the natural resources of the north. Many international experts, ongoing field research, and previously unseen archive footage provide new information about wartime events from fresh angles.
  
  Untold Arctic Wars challenges the genre of war
  documentaries in its extreme visuality, impressive filming and modern animations and battle illustrations.
  
  Series features 24 professional history experts – historians, archaeologists, researchers and writers – from various fields. The series has expert representation from Nordic countries; Finland,Sweden and Norway followed by specialists from the UK, Russia and Germany.
  
  Powerful theme song "Wars untold" is made by IRENE, an enchanting Nordic alt-pop artist, who wrote and sings the theme song. The mastermind behind the impressive composure is Italian string-arranger, composer, conductor, and record producer Davide Rossi.
  
  Untold Arctic Wars is Finnish broadcasting company YLE´s original series and it is globally distributed by TVF international.
  
  Information about episodes 1-6:
  
  1. Episode Frozen hell
  After World War I, Europe is in disarray. An alliance between Germany and the Soviet Union launches the Second World War. This also marks the beginning of an Arctic war, with Finland setting the stage for the first act.
  
  2. Episode Race for the north
  The German war industry is in dire need of more iron ore. Hitler has his eye on the Norwegian coast and the port of Narvik. Also Britain is interested in the Arctic. The war parties engage in fierce battles in the mountains.
  
  3. Episode Hitler´s big gamble
  Hitler decides to take a risk and invades the Soviet Union. Finland joins the war alongside Germany. The offensive quickly comes to a standstill and the Germans are in trouble. The Allies put pressure on Finland. The war expands into the Arctic Ocean.
  
  4. Episode Arctic special operations
  Allied commando troops make raids in Norway and establish espionage bases. Hitler becomes worried and targets more resources to the north. The weather war and the convoy war escalate. There is tension within the military leadership in the north.
  
  5. Episode Cold front breaks
  The Allies increased pressure in the north with a major decoy operation. Hitler continues his massive construction projects and intends to hold on to the nickel in Petsamo. The Soviet Union forces Finland to start warfare against the Germans.
  
  6. Episode The Arctic on fire
  The Soviet Union starts a major offensive in the north, and the Germans are retreating quickly. Hitler’s construction projects drive prisoners-or-war to death and cannibalism. The Second World War ends in utter deva
