- Synopsis
- A story set in several places around the world - Poland, Japan, India, Indonesia, New York, and Bohemia. The unyielding and paralyzed Mateusz, who lives, or rather just exists, on the shores of the Baltic Sea, and his son Tomas.
  From the moment their fates are separated by a family quarrel, they try to find a way to each other. Tomas also meets Anna, a quiet seeker of the meaning of life, who has been changed by a family tragedy. Another character is Fujimura, a successful Japanese businessman whose priorities in life change when he learns he has only a few months to live. He remembers a promise he once made to his daughter Sanako that they would visit the Himalayas together, and decides to fulfill it because there was never enough time before...
  
  The lives of all the above heroes begin to change as soon as they all receive the letter from Michel, a French priest living in New York, who, quite incomprehensibly, sees into their lives and urges them to change. Also woven into everyone's fates is the story of a writer who is writing a book about the stories of the aforementioned characters, which in turn increasingly influences his own life and aids his transformation into a quiet man who feels a quiet peace regardless of external circumstances. In his travels, he experiences hard-to-believe moments and tries to answer questions that many of us ask ourselves. What awaits us after death, what is the meaning and value of our lives, and what is truly meaningful in them?
