- Synopsis
- It is 1995. Haunted by his father’s ruined reputation and suicide, emotionally scarred by childhood separation and struggling to connect with relationships, London-based investigative journalist GUY TRUMAN is at a personal and professional nadir.
  
  In the rubble of the collapsed Soviet Union, Captain ADRIK YASTREBOV, Spetsnaz GRU commander, brilliant, implacable and deadly, is seconded to the St Petersburg Politsiya to command an operation that thwarts a bank heist. He is rewarded with a decoration and a discharge, due to defence cuts. Embittered, he now faces an unfamiliar foe in unemployment.
  
  Guy’s discovery of vital evidence that could exonerate his father triggers his transformation from a feckless dissolute to a fearless agent for truth.
  
  Adrik seeks personal redress for a career cut short and conceives an audacious plan to take compensation from the Russian military and the wealthy West.
  
  Guy systematically exposes crime and corruption at the heart of the establishment, but in doing so is propelled into a lonely, perilous world of extortion, murder and mayhem, leaving shattered lives in his wake.
  
  Simultaneously, Adrik sets sail for the City of London and perpetrates an astonishing high-tech bank heist using a Directed Energy Weapon (DEW) … but the course of true villainy never did run smooth.
  
  The fizzing molecules of fate inexorably pull Guy and Adrik’s stories together with twisting, unpredictable momentum towards a thrillingly explosive collision. It is an odyssey of revelation, revenge and redemption that concludes with a final, devastatingly cruel aftershock.
