    • Synopsis
    • Justin Devereaux, 30s, bestselling author of the Theodore Clack Mysteries, has writers’ block. Since the death of his partner Thomas, Justin’s world has shrunk but after another self-sabotaged date, friend and lawyer Imara reveals a last bequest in Thomas’ will; an old vineyard in Australia. Confused, Justin travels to the other side of the world to visit Moon Cross – the
vineyard Thomas spent his childhood summers at before his family disowned him for being gay. Here Justin meets rugged vintner Alex, 30s, who is terrified his new owner will sell to a developer and destroy his life’s work.
Justin finds happy traces of Thomas everywhere – including a photo of a young Thomas playing chess with his Uncle Michael.
Following a call from his publisher, Justin tries to focus on work but Theodore Clack, debonair man of mystery, refuses to be written. Justin instead works in the fields with Alex, who introduces Justin to the world of wine with the same gentle approach he brings to his vines. These lessons bring them closer and soon lead Justin down the familiar path of self sabotage as he becomes wracked with guilt, indebted to Thomas’ memory.
As Alex and the team bring in the harvest, Justin learns Thomas’ estranged parents have contested their son’s will bringing back memories of the hatred and discrimination that so deeply affected Thomas and Justin. Faced with the harrowing task of proving
their relationship was real to secure the inheritance and keep the vineyard from sale, Justin dives headfirst into painful memories, made worse by his growing feelings for Alex.
Ultimately Justin must decide whether to sell the vineyard and return to his New York life or take the leap of faith Thomas has secured for him and begin a new chapter at Moon Cross.
