- Synopsis
- The life hysterically dissipated of Valerio, a charming 30-year-old affected by bipolar disturb and lost in sex, drugs and self-destruction, gets a positive surge when he meets an old woman, Carla, a former magistrate, who manifests the first symptoms of the Alzheimer’s diseases. Two complex souls that find into an unexpected friendship the strength to confront themselves with the demons of their past, before their respective disease will not allow them anymore to face who hurt them. So, it happens that Carla will meet again the terrorist who kidnapped her in 1978 and that she is willing to forgive, and that Valerio will try to forgive himself for the harm he got until today. A journey between present and past. Two generations in comparison, chronologically so distant, and yet so close. However, life does not always reserves a happy ending. Carla, tracked down by her family from which she run away, will end up into a hospice with no chances of escape, and Valerio, after a short break of happiness, will be back to drown into his suffering. La Vacanza is a drama but still it doesn’t lack of lightness, enjoyment and irony. Set in the wonderful beaches of Cilento, it carries the ambition to bring on the big screen the most painful feelings, those that are more difficult to tell about, those that make their mark.
