    • London, in the 1930's. In the office of the Paraná Plantations land company, its chairman, Lord Lovat, head of one of Scotland's most famous clans, is given an unusual mission: to travel to Londrina, in the north of Paraná, in order to discover the sender of a mysterious letter containing a medieval song. At the same time, he must investigate a crime involving three employees of the British land development company, which owns 13,000 square kilometers of the most fertile land in the world. A series of crimes begins to unfold the moment he and his employee, translator-interpreter Adam Blake, set foot on the red earth. In The Troubadour, a song by a famous Provençal troubadour, Arnaut Daniel, becomes the main clue to a scheme that could jeopardize the security of the British Empire and the reign of Edward VIII. A crime novel full of action, suspense and twists and turns, as well as featuring historical recreation and period reconstitution, The Troubadour is set against the backdrop of British imperialism, its links with the Nazis and the saga of the enterprise that brought together people from all over Brazil and the world in search of one goal: to start a new life and conquer the "Eldorado".
Plano Geral has secured the adaptation rights to Rodrigo Garcia Lopes' novel and is developing the book, as both a mini series and a stand alone feature film. The novel is extremely successful mixing histoprical events, real characters and ficitional ones, making for an excelent read and a magnificent trasposition to the big screen.
