Based on the manga with the same title by Makochin Ishihara, THE SAN MEI SAMA(which means [TABLE FOR THREE]) started as a live-action drama in 2005. At the time, it was well received and talked about as it charmed a lot of viewers with its chill, relaxed atmosphere created by the three part-time workers (Sato, Okada, Tsukamoto) who hang out at their usual diner to have a late-night talk.
