    • Synopsis
    • Time - 13th century. The Mongol Horde is making its way to Europe across the Carpathian Mountains. The Berkut brothers sneak up into the Mongol camp and liberate prisoners of war. One of them is merchant Radomil of Poland. He makes his acquaintance with Maksim Berkut, his brothers, and their native village of Tuhlia, hidden deep in the Carpathians. Tuhlia residents live in peace and quiet. However, the prince has recently sent a boyar to the village, who is to lead the local militia in case of war. The boyar, being used to be obeyed, immediately comes into conflict with the locals and their love for freedom. Meanwhile, Khan Burunda craves revenge over the arrogant brothers for liberating his prisoners. He approaches the boyar, demanding safe passage to Tuhlia through the mountains. It is revealed that the boyar has long been cooperating with the Mongols. He agrees, wishing the Mongols to punish Tuhlia for unruliness for him. Tuhlia villagers find out that a vast horde is approaching them and decide to accept a battle. Maksim and Radomil fight shoulder to shoulder. Due to their valor and a ruse of war, the villagers lure the enemy into a trap and defeat them spectacularly. Radomil goes back home, spreading the news about the free Ruthenians’ glorious victory.
