    • Every year, the rescue of the hostages during a guerilla takeover of the Japanese Embassy in Lima is commemorated. Doña Mila, a Chazutina artisan, wants the name of her daughter ( alias “La Pacucha”) who was kidnapped by the guerrilla, to be vindicated.

Omar, a reporter for the newspaper “Enfoque”, is determined to report her story. Against the orders of his editor, he goes to the Peruvian jungle to investigate the kidnappings of young people by the guerrilla group. In the jungle Omar discovers that “La Pacucha” was not the only victim of the political violence.

Back in Lima, Omar manages to publish the report and is fired. When the unemployed journalist is leaving the city, he receives an anonymous envelope containing the secret “Red Diary” written by “La Pacucha.”

The diary describes her attempt to free the hostages after learning the terrorist takeover was a “suicide mission.” The military received orders not to leave any guerrillas alive and the teenager turned terrorist dies with her comrades.

Omar finds the way to publish the story of the “Red Diary. ' After the story is published, the corpse of “La Pacucha” is exhumed and the mother receives the remains of her daughter. Back at home, they commemorate the teenager as a victim of the political conflict.
