    • Placid Lake has always been different. He has brilliant ideas which have either brought him great success or devastating failure. Usually the latter. He doesn't care; being different in a sea of mediocrity is okay by him. However, after flying off the roof of his school building on Graduation night and breaking almost every bone in his body, Placid makes a decision to change who he is and to become a normal straight-laced person of moderation. Getting a job at an insurance company he throws himself into his new life and embarks on trying to get his best friend, Gemma, into bed. His parents are horrified to find their son has changed from a free-spirited young man into a supposedly boring grey-suited salesman. As for Placid, he tells them what they want to hear and conducts a charade for them in the house before following his new mundane life. Insecurity and neurosis start to kick in though and the normal people he is associated with turn out to be insane. In the middle of a corporate seminar Placid must face what he has become, what he has lost and find a way to get back to whom he is.
