Vishnu Walawalkar , 70, runs the popular Saideep studio and is well known for passport photographs. Though he loves old style film cameras,he has began using the digital camera.
His wife Sulbha, 65, has been paralysed in the legs for the past year. Bedridden she nevertheless keeps in touch with the outside world through T.V & amp; social media.
On his daily rounds Walawalkar takes numerous photos so that Sulbha can see whats going in the world around them. They discuss these photos in detail. Sulbha often tries to persuade him to share his work on the internet but he is reluctant. Two incidents however induce a change in his attitude. One the behavior of people in connection with the martyrdom of Major Abhimanyu Naik a local lad who loses his life fighting the enemy in faraway Kashmir.
Secondly when a young female jokingly calls him Passport Perfect Grandpa. This remark shakes him profoundly. This is not how he sees himself ; a mere studio photographer. He is proud of his artistry with the still camera.
This sets him on a path of self discovery as well as broader understanding of his place in the society.
