- Susie Wallis (Kiersey Clemons) is a determined community college student who cares for her chronically sick mother. Susie channels all her energy into her fledgling true crime Podcast. Susie’s lackluster podcast fails to get any audience traction, but all that changes when Jesse (Alex Wolff) - the campus heartthrob and aspiring social media star - goes missing. While the bumbling local Sheriff (Jim Gaffigan) and his team flounder, Susie launches her own investigation.
  Susie builds a compelling case against Jesse’s estranged uncle, but the authorities dismiss her theories. Convinced, Susie sets out on a dangerous solo mission to an abandoned farmhouse, where she discovers Jesse. Overnight, Susie becomes a hometown hero. Likewise, Susie’s podcast is now a hit until a shocking twist reveals that she was the kidnapper all along… Susie’s scheme was a misguided quest for fame, and she must stick to her story or lose it all.
