    • Synopsis
    • China Yunnan province, in the remote mountainous district of Lijiang, there’s a film projectionist Shijiu who has played movies for 30 years. In most of time, he leaves his family and plays movie for the people who live far away. His wife and kid can’t understand then left him. Middle-aged Shijiu walks alone with his horse and film projection equipment in the big mountains. He often talks to himself. He feels his life like a drama and he’s a soliloquizing man who tells the story of himself.
      Shijiu often helps others to easy the pain of loneliness which hides in the deep of soul. When he sees Lisu lovers necking by the stream, he can’t help himself having a unique illusion that can comfort him from his secret sadness.
      Shijiu shows his happiness and generosity to the people, but these can’t cover his loneliness and desire of love. In this contradictory situation, Shijiu drinks a lot till he meets a journalist. He drinks with the journalist then his story ‘SOLILOQUIZING MAN’ hits the headlines of the local paper. He becomes a good example of the working class. This sudden honor makes this lonely man uncomfortable. He’s beyond lost in the wide open world. He can’t find his new wife and his horse, even his own soul.
