    • Synopsis
    • Throat singing is traditionally considered an exclusively male occupation in the Republic of Tuva in Russian Federation. If a woman uses throat singing in the public, it is said to cause death at birth or infertility. The main character Choduraa Tumat is only one woman in Tuva who wants to change this tradition, she wants women not to be afraid of singing. Choduraa is a teacher of throat singing for all interested girls. But there are not a lot of them. Two her Tuvan female students have doubts that throat singing is their road of life, so they hide from family and friends that they visit Choduraa's lessons. Both dream of leaving the Republic of Tuva and becoming famous singers. Choduraa sometimes wonders if she has chosen the right path, but she continues to fight for the right of women to throat singing.
      Film asks an eternal question: How to reconcile the personal fulfillment with tradition and social values? Is it possible at all?
