    • Simón was a freedom fighter back in Venezuela, but something happened that made him leave the country and go to Miami, where he is now a shadow of his former self. With barely a roof over his head, Simón struggles to initiate the formal process of requesting for political asylum. But to build his asylum case, he has to revisit his past and describe in painful detail everything that he suffered through in his fight against he dictatorship, as well as contact his old friends and teammates that he has not spoken to since he abandoned the country. Melissa, an American pre-law student dead-set on finding a cause she can get involved in, decides to help Simón with his asylum case. Simón slowly but surely begins to open up to Melissa about his past, and she begins to discover the natural born leader that Simón used to be; an impassioned student who was willing to put his life on the line for his country's freedom. But she also begins to understand what made Simón give up the fight.
