    • Synopsis
    • On an ordinary winter day in the streets of Alexandria, the life of Shawky, a late-fifties traffic cop, is turned around when the Alexandrian governor personally presents him with a lifetime achievement plaque/certificate during his working hour. He is filled with pride in getting unexpected official recognition.
After realizing that his name was wrongly written on the plaque/certificate, he manages to correct them with the help of some craftsmen. His pride in the official honor becomes his obsession. By spending his time fixing and showing off, he loses the last moments with his dying wife Sayeda, whose life couldn‘t be saved by his official achievement.
After her passing, he is requested to withdraw the plaque/certificate he had received from the expelled governor of whom the state decided to erase his entire existence. Going through grief, he sues the state to appeal their decision to hold on to one last thing in his life. In doing so, Shawky writes a long speech to present in front of the court to prove his right to regain his honor and validation. Torn between his loyalty and fear, to break the tie, the desperate cop has one last hope.
