- Berlin 1926: Company heir Edgar Falkenbeck von Rabov believes he has found the love of his life in the Anglo-Indian Alina. When she suddenly disappears, there is growing evidence that she was only a decoy. But for what?
  He follows her via London to India, where he will learn that his entire identity is nothing but a fiction, jealously guarded by his German family.
  But Alina's mystical-religious attempt to "awaken" him from his illusions was also a large-scale deception, decreed in the will of his "true" mother Leonie, deprived of her child shortly after his birth and forever banned.
  
  Returning to Germany, which is just beginning to celebrate its very own "awakening" under the sign of the swastika, Edgar confronts his family with his new knowledge and tries to shed light on the fate of his mother. Risking his life, he manages to free her and they escape from Nazi Germany.
  
  Based on the success-novel by best-selling author Wolfram Fleischhauer, "School of Lies" tells a gripping story about the uncanny connection between the rise of the National Socialist ideology and the first wave of esoteric and counter-culture movements from the turn of the century well into the 1920s. Against the backdrop of one of the most complex societal transitions in recent history, we witness a riveting and highly topical story that shows and warns us how politics can become jinxed by religion and esoteric thinking.

  Aryanism, the swastika, the cult of the "Führer" and loyalty up to the point of utter annihilation - still today we are puzzled by the question how a modern, enlightened, civilized and largely secularized society in the middle of Europe could sink into a state of industrial barbarism within a few years.
  
  During the Nuremberg trials, all material about the influence of esoteric thinking on National Socialism was deliberately suppressed because the evidence was considered too bizarre to be admitted. It had to prevented that high-ranking Nazi party members plead insanity in order to avoid punishment.
  
  Even after the Nazis were crushed, the very idea that such an inconceivable outbreak of the irrational had been at all possible remained extremely dangerous. It was almost inconceivable to show humankind the extent to which the power of the irrational had been embodied by the Third Reich. But isn't it about time to face up to and confront ourselves with this irrationality, lest it drag us once again into an abyss of alternative truths and collective insanity? This is why we think it is necessary to tell this story to promote a hopefully courageous, upright attitude in the face of renewed madness.
