    • Synopsis
    • My dead mother.
A jew-born in Nazi Germany, a refugee in France, a resistor, deportee, killed by the Sabra and Chatila massacres because those that lay claim to her legacy, the caretakers of her martyrdom turned into executioners.
So she gave up the fight against sickness, amnesia, and ignorance.

The Dead sea (pronounced « Dead mother » in french, my mother tongue).
A lost valley haunted by the ghosts of Sodom, Gomorrha, Moses, Jesus… Where tourists come to float on the surface at the lowest of the world, surrounded by closed borders and minefields.

Here I feel at home amongst ghosts and desolation.
And I meet Bulos, Marianna, Suleiman and others who like my mother, despite sufferings and oppression, distinguish war from hatred and are ready to pay the price of rejecting givens. And who’s overwhelming desire to live allow them to face the discomfort of doubt and life’s paradoxes head-on : the fragile beauty of our humanity.
