- Synopsis
- When five young men kidnap the daughter of a wealthy Eastern Suburbs businessman in an attempt to expose his Australian connection with Middle Eastern arms deals and illegal settlements they set in motion events that shatter friendships, families and ultimately deny any form of reconciliation.
  Rami (22) and his brother Bassam (20) are new Australians, arriving here 5 years earlier after losing their whole family to an horrific missile strike on a beach in Gaza. They want to make a difference; they want the world to know that meddling in other countries affairs will have consequences.
  If Liron Bergman (62) wants to see his daughter alive, he must announce publicly on the front pages of the major Australian newspapers, that he will divest all business interests in the Middle East and reveal his exploitation and profiting from illegally procured land.
  The other three kidnappers, Khaled (30), Danny (28) and Nassar (20), Australian born Lebanese boys, have other ideas and as their true objectives are revealed, we discover that it’s money they want, not front page headlines.
  Tali Bergman (22), becomes a pawn between the political motivations of Rami and Bassam and the greed of Khaled, Danny and Nassar. Tensions escalate and become threatening between the boys, whilst Rami and Tali share some moments of connection. Tali is eventually released, after Liron gives in to both demands. Despite being back with her family, Tali’s belief in her father has been tainted and she sets out on a mission to find out for herself and give something back to the region he exploited.
  Rami, who thought his motivations were noble, realises he is no better than the man he sought to bring down. His determination to right his own wrongs brings him back into contact with Tali in the West Bank. Can they develop an understanding that gives this long-standing conflict hope or are they just the pawns of a much bigger story in the Middle East?
  Set in both Australia and the Middle East, a film in the style of ‘Paradise Now’ and ‘The Disappearance of Alice Creed’, it seeks to probe the complexities of the conflict in the Middle East and the dangers of importing that conflict to a foreign shore.
