Padre Pio, a young monk with a reputation of instability and insanity, arrives in Apulia, a remote region outside of Napoli at the end of WWI. As tensions mount between the town’s socialists and communists, threatening revolution, Padre Pio gains notoriety as a brilliant and charismatic priest whose words and confessionals bring comfort to both sides. However, elders in the community become fearful of his growing power. When the communists take control and begin murdering in the streets, Padre Pio begins to have visions of the Devil. With civil war on the horizon, the Devil begins to take hold of Padre Pio’s life and challenges everything he knows and believes in.
