    • That which Carrie, Anita and Tina are experiencing is often described as "exaggeration" or "harmless" by outsiders and authorities. Each of the three women is the target of cyber stalking: whether by jealous ex-partners or anonymous stalkers – the women are subjected to insults, sexual harassment, slander and even violent threats. Because the big corporations behind online search engines and social media platforms intervene as little as the American judicial system, the three women are left to their own devices in order to fight and increase the public’s awareness of a crime that is not recognised as such. Director Cynthia Lowen’s NETIZENS illustrates how devastating the real consequences of digital abuse can be.
