- To escape her helpless marriage, Ning Xin goes to a remote village of the Dong ethnic group, where her foster father had collected folk songs 30 years ago. The aim of her trip is to fulfill her dying foster father’s wish to record the Grand Opera of the Dong Nationality. In the process, she reveals a secret love story between her foster father and a Dong nationality girl which has been unrequited for 30 years because of social barriers.
  Bathed in the heavenly melody of the Dong Nationality Grand Opera and the fascinating scenery of the Dong Village, Ning Xin finally understands why her foster father has remained single in such a life time waiting for his true love.
