- Synopsis
- The documentary tells the story of a historian's research on pirate activity on the Paraná Delta islands towards the end of the 19th century, and the adventures of Marica Rivero, captain of one of the fiercest bands in local history.
  The film addresses the subjective, psychological motivations that aroused the interest of the historian, a dark public employee, with a recent open heart operation that has changed him existentially, and research becomes a search for answers about his work, the sense of history, violence and the state.
  In the course of the investigation, the Historian makes certain findings, which allow him to contextualize the "hard core" of the material -historical and anchored in the past-, with the continuity of piratical practices in the Delta of today, and the persistence of periodic expressions of violence, which seem as a constant within the fabric of the island life, always cut off and apart from the continent.
  In this way, it also establishes several research modules, which are also several planes of sense of the narrative centered on the character of Marica Rivero: the historical one; the legendary, referring to stories and anecdotes of oral culture regarding the pirate captain; and the parapsychological, a kind of transitional territory, which adds characters from its historical and legendary precedents.
  In this last case: the history of the belief in the spectral appearance of Rivero and his pirates, crying out for revenge.
