Concetta Del Gaizo, alias Mama Dallas, comes to America in 1910 with her family to start a new life, only to witness her husband’s murder. Penniless, Mama meets gang leader Paul Kelly and soon Concetta and sons are involved in his illegal ventures. Years later, Mama's become a force in the City’s criminal underworld, until she suffers the ultimate price when son Augie is killed. Driven by inconsolable grief, she uses her wealth to open New York’s first soup kitchen, saving hundreds of lives during the Great Depression.
