- One of the greatest pleasures of ANA CATARINA is to wake up early, walk to the beach, dive into the sea, beat the waves, swim, swim and swim, until she gets exhausted. From that moment on, let herself float, feeling her body being taken by the pulsating movement of the tide. So it is, every day.
  
  Her relationship with the sea was born within her, in the community of Barra da Lagoa, east side of Santa Catarina Island. From a family of fishermen, the fishing, the sea world awakens feelings that belong to Ana Catarina. It is from those experiences and from the enchantment with literature, that comes her strength for life.The sensation of being carried away by the tide is the same as that of diving into a book and losing the narrative control. But Ana Catarina reaches maturity facing a challenge - after 45 years of living in a fishing community, surrounded by her family, she will move to another country, starting a new life in Portugal, as an invited professor of literature. Among the great decisions she has to make before she leaves, the most difficult one is to get rid of 5 books that remained among the hundreds of other titles that formed and occupied her bookshelf, which is the most prominent place in her room.The The Last Books contains dedications from friends who were important at different times in her life. Three friends, an ex-boyfriend and an ex-husband. Unable to donate the books, she decides to find those who gifted her, giving them back so the books can be kept, even for a possible return or forever, who knows? But what she did not foresee was the impact of these meetings, turning over the past, reliving emotions and meeting those who are not the friends of years before, but the people they became.This delivery of books ends up interfering in the present and impelling Ana Catarina to resolve issues kept not from the bookshelf, but inside the depths of her memory, the traumas she carries, sleeping and silenced situations. What seemed like a simple book delivery turns into resolutions that had not been touched throughout life. Only by rearranging it, she would be able to detach herself from the past, live in the present and make the future a libertarian path.
