    • Synopsis
    • The charming and pretty Yim Wing Chun (Bai Jing) lives in the Guangdong town of Mount Da Liang, where she helps run a successful tofu shop with her father. Yim Yi (Tung Chi Wah Kung Fu Hustl), and cousin.
Gao Shing, the wealthy local bully, tries to force Wing Chun to marry him. Though she has already undergone basic kung fu training with her father, Wing Chun lacks the strength to defeat Gao. The latter gives her three months to train but, if she still cannot beat Gao in a duel, she will be forced to wed him.
Wing Chun encounters a former Shaolin master, a woman named Ng Mui (Wai Ying Hung), who offers to train her in a unique form of close range combat. The two become master and student and Wing Chun, having trained for the requisite three months, easily defeats Gao in their rematch.
Wing Chun is actually betrothed to Leung Bao Chou (Yu Shao Qun). He is a handsome young scholar who has also been trained in martial arts by his parents (Yuen Wah and Yuen Chau, Kung Fu Hustle). Intially, Bao Chou is put off by Wing Chun rambunctious ways, but a genuine romance soon develops between them.
Imperial officer Lau Yam (Wai Tin Chee) leads his master, Kam Ying (Collin Chou), to Guangdong in pursuit of Ng Mui and the other Shaolin rebels. Though Kam Ying was once in love with Ng Mui, this doesn't stop him from killing her comrades, and finally threatening Yim Wing Chun and her family.
In a final showdown, Ng Mui proves no match for Kam Ying, and it is left to Wing Chun, helped by Bao Chou, to finally defeat this apparently invincible foe.
Yim Wing Chun promises her master that she will disseminate the art to which she has given the name.
