- Synopsis
- In a distant suburb, father and son meet again after years
  of silence. Francesco is there to accompany his father,
  now elderly and ill, to the clinic where he receives
  treatment.
  As the father slowly comes towards him, Francesco
  recounts a recent dream: together in his father's car they
  were driving through the familiar suburban streets, in a
  dreamlike, rarefied atmosphere. In the dream, it is his
  father who holds the steering wheel, just as he did when
  Francesco was a child.
  The dream narrative is interspersed with flashbacks that
  take Francesco back to his childhood and car rides with
  his father, when the windshield was their window to the
  world.
  Now, years later, the roles are reversed: that day, for the
  first time, it is Francesco who drives. But his
  achievement, which marks his entry into the adult world,
  carries a bitter-sweet aftertaste.
