    • Synopsis
    • In the past four decades, Kabul has never been free of violence. Yet, sounds of poetry and melodies escape from a music school in the war-ridden city. Behind barbed wire, we meet Madina, the oboe-player, and Negin, Afghanis- tan’s first female orchestra conductor. As girls are forbidden from playing music in public in Afghanistan, they are braving threats – whether they come from the Taliban or from their own families – to bestow their melodies on the city. After five years of a journey between music, harmony and violence, in July 2019, the two girls were reported missing during a European tour. This event made us rethink the whole story.
