    • Synopsis
    • Arthur (Bruce Davison) is a man of quiet intellect. Diagnosed with a dementia that causes hallucinations of his dear dead wife, whom he misses dearly, flees his family and care-takers, and journeys cross country to revisit the place where he met his wife.
In a moment of confusion and fear, he is befriended by a young man; A.J. At first A.J. wants to notify the authorities, but after hearing the old man’s story and against his own better judgment, agrees to help Arthur get to his destination; the Santa Monica Pier.
A.J. is on his way to start graduate school at Cal Tech in Pasadena, or UCLA like his father wants him to do. A.J. is a highly gifted intellect as well, with a huge dream and a life before him. These two seem to be cut from a similar cloth as A.J. struggles with the same issues of self-worth that Arthur struggle with at that age.
They are joined in this journey by “Mae”. Arthur struggles with his hallucination and what its existence portends. A.J. finds Arthur’s condition disturbing at first, but comes to accept and include Mae, as the three travel cross country on a quest of self-discovery and redemption.
