- It tells a story about the temple, the monk, the Documentary mountain and the climbers. Named by Tibetan residents, “Ladder to Paradise” refers to little white ladders drawn onto rocks and cliffs on the Tibetan Plateau, believed to lead spirits to a Holy Land.
  
  Himalaya: Ladder to Paradise is a documentary that draws our attention to a growing part of Tibetan society where a new generation of young people are carving out their careers as guides up Mt. Everest. The directors take the audience on a beautiful journey that goes above and beyond the trek up Mt. Everest. By following the lives of these mountain guides, viewers get a local’s perspective on Tibetan culture, including the relationship between the people, the mountain, and the ties to their beliefs.
