    • Synopsis
    • A group of ten women from a border village in the county of Vinhais, district of Braganza, in northeast Portugal, organize a pilgrimage on foot to Fatima. Over the course of ten days, they cover four hundred kilometres through deepest inland Portugal, crossing half the length of country.
On the way, they encounter people that are trying desperately to survive in abandoned villages where only the old remain. They hear stories of their lives, experience pathetic situations and witness comic episodes, perhaps through this reaching a better understanding of themselves and the Portuguese people. They come face-to-face with the decay and abandonment of the urban architectural tradition and of the human landscape in the villages and towns through which they pass, and this perhaps gives them some insight into who they are and where they have come from.
