- Synopsis
- When a war-weary journalist meets a young hustler during an airplane layover, she learns a harsh lesson in reality.
  
  Lila (42) is a journalist on assignment in Africa. After a long exposure to poverty, death, and disease, she is finally on her way home when her flight is delayed for several hours.
  
  Confused and hungry. she looks up to see a young man, Francois(18) who suddenly offers to carry her bag. Before she can respond, he picks it up and is on his way to a small café.
  
  After tipping the charming young man, Lila turns to the bar worker to order some much-needed food. Francois startles her again by seating himself at her table.
  
  As she doesn’t seem to have a choice, she decides to buy him a meal but it soon becomes obvious that he wants much more from her.
  
  Exhausted and depleted, Lila’s frustration builds and bursts out of her, attracting a security guard who threatens to throw Francois in jail.
  
  Realizing what she has done, Lila stops the guard and settles in for an unexpected heart to heart conversation with Francois. He reveals his deepest dreams to her and they share a special intimate connection, totally unexpected by either of them. They are both deeply moved by the deep humanity they have experienced together.
  
  The moment passes and Francois must get back to work. He leaves.
  
  Moments later, Francois is back. She’s surprised to feel happy to see him again. But he’s with another middle-aged woman explaining the French menu seductively and she’s flattered by him. He sits down and starts telling the woman the exact same story he’s just told Lila. Lila gathers her things awkwardly and starts to leave, hoping he’ll notice her.
  
  He doesn’t. Reality has set in.
  
  Summary:
  The differences between the haves and the have nots are only expanding in today’s world. Delayed explores what happens when two people come together for a split second in time, smashing barriers of race, gender, age, and power imbalance. And in that second an amazing light suddenly shines through each of them, charging and changing them at a deep level. But what happens when the realities of our world come crashing back?
