    • Synopsis
    • Astri, a Muslim transwoman and her boyfriend, Tambulah, are blissfully living together in their conservative Sama Badjao (“sea gypsy”) community. As Astri turns 16, her father reminds her that as a “man”, she must honor their tradition by marrying Sitti, the girl betrothed to Astri. Torn between love and tradition, Astri and Tambulah befriend Sitti in their attempt to stop the wedding.
