- Synopsis
- Set in the mid-19th century, Belcanto follows the story of Maria Cuoio and her two daughters, Antonia and Carolina, who escape a violent past in Naples and move to Milan, seeking a new life. Maria has one dream: to see her daughter, Antonia, fulfill her late husband's wish of becoming a renowned opera singer. Antonia, deeply committed to her mother's dream, sets her sights on the prestigious world of bel canto, a vocal art form known for its technical brilliance and emotional depth.
  
  In Milan, the family’s new life begins, and Antonia starts her journey to stardom, training with the best teachers, performing in small theaters, and slowly gaining recognition. However, life in Milan is not as simple as it seems. As Antonia's fame grows, tensions begin to surface within the family. Antonia’s fierce determination and ambition start to clash with the quiet, introspective nature of her younger sister, Carolina, who had always stayed in the background, supporting her sister’s dreams.
