    • Synopsis
    • On the family estate on the American east coast, Emily Dickinson grows up in a strict world where no one is allowed to colour outside the lines. Women have a certain role to play. As a teenager, Emily began rebeling against her puritanical teacher and conservative father, denouncing the common religious and social dogmas with a sharp pen. But her rebellion is limited to paper: the writer hardly left the house and led a solitary and lonely life. More and more she withdraws from public life and spends her days on her estate together with her faithful sister and her adulterous brother, with her pen as her only weapon against the prevailing morality.
