- Synopsis
- Max, a respected hockey coach and held on a pedestal in his small community, is desperately trying to appease his daughter, Robbie, who resents him for taking the next step with his girlfriend, Sharon. When Max invites Sharon to move in, Robbie's thrown into emotional turmoil, as she still grieves for her mother who left them when she was little.
  
  The joy of a new home with Max quickly ends. While Sharon's attempts to connect with Robbie backfire, Max hits a cyclist on a remote stretch of road on his logging run, killing her. Unable to reach anybody by phone or radio, Max panics and makes a snap decision that will change the course of his life forever. He hides the body in the dense forest, then returns home, then keeps the incident to himself.
  
  Robbie is in her senior year of high school and is the only female player in the local hockey league. She has dreams of getting a scholarship and playing for Canada in the Olympic Games, but as the investigation of a body found on her dad's logging run closes in, it seems her hockey dreams will remain just that.
  
  When the cyclist's body is found, and the RCMP embark on an intense investigation, Max's anxiety causes Sharon to confront him. When he admits to the crime, Sharon, afraid of losing Max, decides to help with the cover-up. Meanwhile, Robbie's curiosity leads to the discovery of damming evidence that rips her world apart.
  
  Faced with the heartbreaking choice of turning the evidence in or hiding it, Robbie approaches the RCMP precinct, still unsure, and terrified of losing her dad. Just when Robbie is about to make the most difficult decision of her life, Max finds his inner strength and turns himself in in a shocking twist.
  
  Robbie and Sharon bond in the aftermath and Robbie is quickly forced to do some growing up. Sharon earns Robbie's trust by refusing to leave, and together they push on, working towards Robbie's hockey dreams. Sharon ultimately solidifies her place in her new family while Max pays the price for his crime. When Max is released from prison years later, Robbie greets him with her hockey gold medal.
