    • Synopsis
    • 1964: Nine regular humans from different parts of the world are abducted by an evil organization and transformed into cyborgs with astounding powers for the purpose of being used as weapons. However, the nine cyborgs turn against their creators and start a long fight against in the name of justice. But as their fight restored peace, they eventually disappeared from the pages of history and from people’s memory.
2013: skyscrapers are falling. Cities around the world are being hit by waves of suicide bombers. The terrorists seem to have no connection, except that they speak of a divine voice - "His Voice” - calling for humanity to start again. Is it a cult, a crime organization, or something far stranger?
Doctor Gilmore, the cyborgs’ onetime mentor, seeks to gather his dispersed team together once more. However, the boyish-looking Cyborg 009 (aka Joe Shimamura) has lost his memories, and believes himself to be an ordinary student. Indeed, Joe has the curious sense that he’s living through his high-school days forever. But he also seems to be carrying out some secret agenda of his own...
Joe’s memories are restored during a fiery encounter with the hulking Native American 005 (aka Geronimo), on a tower-block. One happy consequence is that Joe is reunited with his cyborg lover, the ravishing 003 (aka Françoise).
The other members of Doctor Gilmore’s team include 001 (aka Ivan), a Russian telepath frozen in the body of an infant; the German 004 (aka Albert), a self-declared Cold War relic; the bluff Chinese millionaire 006 (aka Chang Changku) who can set the world on fire; and the African 008 (aka Pyunma), an archaeologist investigating a discovery in in the Olduvai Gorge, the cradle of humanity. Perhaps inevitably, the jovial, shapeshifting (and deadly) 007 is British.
But there is one missing team member. The American 002 (aka Jet) used to be a pivotal member of the team, who can fly at supersonic speeds. Now, after a bitter falling-out with Joe, Jet has quit the Cyborgs to work for America’s National Security Agency.
Doctor Gilmore has shocking theories about America’s connections with the bombings. Soon enough Joe will confront the estranged Jet, on a bomber plane screaming toward the city of Dubai. But far worse, “His Voice” has already infected Joe himself!
Even with all their spectacular powers, the Cyborg team seems helpless as the catastrophes escalate. The vital clue: the skeleton of an impossible-seeming creature. As cities are consumed in the apocalypse, could it really be an Act of God?
