Description
Biel/Bienne, the largest bilingual city in Switzerland, makes a bridge between the Swiss French and the Swiss German cultures using the cinema as a universal language. The French Film Festival of Helvetia (FFFH), which is one of the youngest film festivals in Switzerland, dedicates its programming to French speaking films winking at Swiss cinema too. For five days, about 60 films, many of which are international previews, are unveiled in original version subtitled in German (50% of the audience
Objective
The three main goals of the Festival is to present the best programming (many of which are international previews), to bring the Swiss German and Swiss French cultures together and to promote the Frenchspeaking film in the German territory. Moreover professionals really enjoy discussing with a bilingual audience. All these open discussions are simultaneously translated into German. The majority of the films are unveiled in original version subtitled in German.
