    • Synopsis
    • Some how Orol personifies the history and evolution of mexican cinema; a kind of improvised industry, without a solid base it flourished, became important and well known all across the planet but in an almost involuntary way. If we can speak of a certain "Golden Age" in Mexico´s film production, it was certainly due to people like him, who developed an amount close to sixty movies in a non production friendly or favorable environment. These films, even being considered as bad movies, had a certain degree of commercial success with very defined aesthetics and a personal touch by their creator: italian gangsters in tropical settings, dressed up in striped suits, deathly women wasting glamour while performing in a cabaret, a good will "small waist" in a love affair with a suburban prostitute victim of the need, among other things, hallmarks of his films. We are dealing with a mexican styli-shed black series, with a great dose of imagination and very limited resources.
Parallel to Juan Orol´s personal story, this film reviews what has being the evolution of the mexican film industry, from the introduction of sound in the early 30´s, until the decadence of the late 70´s, period in which our main characters career developed. The tone of this film is a farce tragic-comedy; never the less we try to be true to the real events and some original dialogs of the films made by Juan Orol.
