    • Synopsis
    • What would be the shortest way to reach the Argentinean village Balsa San Justo from the Chinese metropolis Shanghai? That would simply be a straight line through the centre of the earth, as these two places are antipodes -- they are located diametrically opposite to each other on the Earth’s surface. During his visits to eight such antipodes, the award-winning documentary filmmaker Victor Kossakovsky captured images that manage to turn our view of the world upside down. A beautiful, peaceful sunset in Argentina is contrasted with the hectic bustle in the rainy streets of Shanghai. People who dwell in a wasteland are connected to people living next to a volcano. Landscapes whose splendor touches the soul are juxtaposed to the bustle of a big city. These antipodes seem mythically connected; their oppositeness appears to, somehow, unite them. Kossakovsky’s movie is a feast for the senses, a fascinating kaleidoscope of our planet. VIVAN LAS ANTIPODAS! – Long live the antipodes!
